The Music, Art and Architecture (MAA) Library proudly features its Canadian Art Exhibition Catalogue Collection on Levels 3 & 4 of the Ridington Room.
The Canadian Art Exhibition Catalogue Collection brings together catalogues produced for exhibitions by Canadian artists and architects as well as exhibitions mounted at institutions in Canada. There is strong representation of Vancouver and BC-based artists, architects, landscape architects, and planners; and of exhibitions and related events held at UBC and in Vancouver and Western Canada. The collection preserves historically important Canadian materials and serves as a record of historical and current practice in art, architecture, and planning in Canada. It is the most in-depth collection of its kind on the West Coast.
These print materials items have been moved from storage and other parts of the library and brought together into one cohesive special collection, to improve visibility and access. Housed in wood and glass-paneled cabinets, the collection is visually enriched with an impressive display of high-resolution images of iconic paintings by Canadian artist Emily Carr, acquired in partnership with the Vancouver Art Gallery.
Materials in the Canadian Art Exhibition Catalogue Collection are non-circulating (branch-use only). However, there are duplicate copies of some items in the MAA Library stacks that can be borrowed.
Visit the MAA Library and connect with staff at the Information Desk on Level 3 during Reference Hours to learn more and access the collection.
